ZINC (+zinc forms)

Zinc

Zinc (chemical symbol - Zn) - is a chemical element with atomic number 30. It is a fragile bluish white metal, which becomes pliable at 100‐150°C. In cosmetology zinc is usually used in the form of zinc pyroglutamate, zinc oxide, zinc pyrithione and other variations, due to complications when adding it to the formula.

Zinc is a godsend to those who have blemish-prone skin, because it possesses strong antibacterial effect, dries out the inflammations and noticeably reduces redness in acne. Zinc also prevents bacteria from spreading and regulates sebum production, making it an ideal component for those, who have oily skin as well. When applied to the skin, it reduces inflammation on cellular level, accelerates tissue epithelialization after cuts and other damage. Zinc is also an antioxidant, slowing down ageing processes.

It is often used in scalp care products, intended to combat dandruff, inflammation and skin peeling. Zinc molecules are able to eliminate bad smells, and it is the reason why it is also included in antiperspirants. The substance is actively used in products for newborns, as it helps relieve diaper rashes and irritation.
